Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh: Welcome international tourists with a safe and effective opening itinerary

- According to the Government News, the Government Office has precisely issued the official telegram to announce the direction of the Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on drafting a safe and effective scientific opening itinerary for welcoming international tourists.

Thereby, the official telegram sent to ministers, heads of ministerial-level and government-attached authorities; Chairmen of the People’s Committees of provinces and municipalities stated: Since the COVID-19 pandemic has had a enormous impact on many sectors and fields of our economy, in which the tourism industry has suffered serious loss, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in 2020 dropped by 76.7% compared to 2019, and in 2021, slummed by 95.9% compared to 2020; as the consequences, it affected piles of related industries and fields in the value chain, such as: transportation, catering, hotel, travel, retail, commerce, etc.., especially at tourist destinations and most localities of the country. In order to promote tourism industry recovery and development, especially international tourism in the context of safe and flexible adaptation, effectively controlling the COVID-19 pandemic in the whole country and gradually opening up the economy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested:

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism together with Ministries of: Health, National Defence, Public Security, Foreign Affairs, Transport, Information and Communications, relevant ministries, authorities and localities, shall assume the prime responsibility for developing and implementing plans, itineraries and solutions to open international tourism in a safe and effective scientific management following the Resolution No. 155/NQ-CP dated 8th December 2021 of the Government; organise seminars with the participation of experts, scientists, managers, influencers to create unification and consensus; spread the news and information via media and social networks on ensuring safety for tourists and the message ‘Vietnam is a safe destination’, draw out a specific itinerary and announce publicly for accordingly acknowledgement and implementation.

Provincial and municipal People’s Committees shall proactively coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Health and relevant authorities in formulating and promulgating specific plans to implement; Have a full preparation in medical capacity, human and facility resources, initiative plans and solutions to ensure safety for pandemic prevention and control as well as handle arising medical incidents appropriately.

The Prime Minister assigned Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam to intuitively direct the task.
